Downtown is located on Broadway Avenue and Main Street in the heart of Palmerston North’s CBD and is home to specialist retail & boutique shopping, a variety of foodcourt offerings & Cafes, 10 cinemas and a multi rise public carpark.

Downtown has a mix of local, national and international retailers with a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment choices for everyone.

Downtown was built in the late eighties and first opened in May 1990.  The following August, Palmerston North and Downtown saw the opening of the very first cinema multiplex in New Zealand.  In 1994 another screen was added followed by an eighth in 1997.

In 2003 Downtowns owners signed off a multi million dollar refurbishment of the centre which saw the foodcourt expanded and completely rebuilt.  More retail shops were created along with a luxury Cinema Gold to cater for the discerning movie patron.
